Amethyst cut base

An amethyst cut base is a flat-based geode or stone with amethyst crystals inside that has been cut open to reveal the crystals. Amethyst is a purple variety of quartz that's formed from silicon, oxygen, and iron. The iron in the stone gives it its purple color.
