Faden Quartz occurs when Quartz crystals grow in a fault zone, where earthquakes and other movement in the earth cause the crystal to grow in beautiful chain-like patterns. "Faden" (pronounced "fah-den") means "thread" and refers to a white line that runs through the crystal.
