Aragonite is a very common mineral, similar to calcite. It actually possesses the same chemical formula as calcite but has a different crystal structure (orthorhombic). This calcium carbonate mineral is almost exclusively found in areas of the Earth's surface with low temperatures. An example is its formation of cave stalactites.
