Zebra calcite, also known as phantom calcite, is a type of calcite usually found in masses and is very rarely seen in crystalline form. It has alternating bands of black, white and honey calcite, sometimes straight and sometimes wavy. When cut into blocks it almost looks like a slice of layered cake. The name comes from the resemblance of the stripes on the mineral to the stripes on a zebra.
