Commonly known by the trade names Afghanistan Green Onyx or Afghanistan Jade Onyx, is a commercial term for banded calcite. It forms when calcium carbonate precipitates from groundwater, creating colorful, wavy, parallel layers. It is much softer than true onyx (a quartz mineral) and will easily scratch and fizz in vinegar.

About me

Hi! My name is Jennifer (Jen). I started Triple J Crystals in June 2023, after years of collecting and appreciating minerals and crystals. During the COVID lockdown, my passion really took off. After a few years of amassing a rather large collection, I decided to try selling myself. It has been a crazy, wonderful journey ever since.

Personally, I have been married to my amazing husband, Scott, since 1997. We have 2 grown children, Miranda (27) and Edward (23). We are empty nesters, unless you count our cat fur baby, Murray (aka Quality Control for Triple J Crystals).

I will be opening a store front, in Evansville, Wisconsin, where I currently reside. The plan is to be open end of August 2026. The address is 7 E Main St, Ste 1. Hope to see you there! :)
