Banded Calcite Cactus carving

Banded calcite from Mexico, often called Mexican Onyx, is a type of calcite (calcium carbonate) knowns for its distinctive layered, or banded, appearance. These bands can be various colors, including white, brown, golden yellow, black, and even green. The coloration is due to variations in impurities during the mineral's formation. 

Chocolate Calcite (Aragonite) is a combination of banded dark brown and pale nougat-colored bands of Brown Aragonite. Calcite and Aragonite are essentially both a calcium carbonate but aragonite forms when exposed to greater amounts of heat and pressure. 

Chocolate Calcite is UV reactive and phosphorescent.
