Verdite is a decorative green metamorphic rock composed mainly of fuchsite, chlorite, talc, quartz, and serpentine. Often called "African jade" or "bud stone", it ranges in color from pale clover to deep forest green due to traces of chromium. The yellow is often caused by fine inclusions of rutile or weathered mineral components. Other colors can include: Red or pink can come from ruby inclusions, blue from sapphire, and brown or white from mottled impurities and other accessory minerals like quartz, chlorite, or talc
