Larimar is a rare blue variety of pectolite, which is a silicate mineral. Its sky-blue and turquoise colors come from copper replacing calcium inside the stone. White and gray patterns swirl through the stone, making it look like sunlight shining through Caribbean ocean water. It is only found in a single mountain region in the Dominican Republic.
