Pentagonite is dimorphic with Cavansite; both have identical chemistries and crystallize in the orthorhombic system, but vary in their lattice structures. This means that they are the same chemistry but are actually different crystal forms, and thus different species. Pentagonite occurs exclusively as a secondary mineral within vesicles in basalt, often in association with zeolite minerals.
