The vibrant orange color of Tangerine Quartz is a result of iron oxide minerals, such as hematite or lepidocrocite, that coat the surface of the quartz crystal. These minerals are typically found in close proximity to the quartz, and they become attached to the crystal through a process known as hydrothermal deposition. This process occurs when hot, mineral-rich water flows through fractures and cavities in the Earth’s crust, depositing minerals on the surfaces of existing crystals. As the water cools and evaporates, the minerals become concentrated, forming a thin layer on the quartz’s surface.
